MOLL introduced its AFB (Advanced Flooded Battery) technology, designed as a direct replacement for AGM batteries in vehicles with start-stop systems.
The CO2 limits applied in the EU since 2012 have made fuel-saving technologies such as start-stop widespread. AGM batteries, often used in these vehicles, are however more expensive than conventional flooded batteries and more sensitive to heat.
In response, MOLL developed the AFB (Advanced Flooded Battery). Built on the robust design of a flooded battery and the company’s EFB experience, the AFB outperforms AGM, according to MOLL, in practical properties such as charge acceptance, recovery of braking energy and micro-hybrid endurance.
The AFB is designed to charge correctly even when it is registered as an AGM battery in the vehicle’s electrical system, so it can be fitted as a direct replacement in AGM-equipped vehicles.
