Where car airbrushing came from, its commercial and personal uses, its advantages and drawbacks, and what drives the price.
Airbrushing is a technique for applying artwork to a car body, first used by racing teams for brand logos and slogans. Today it is used in two main ways: commercial designs with company logos and contact details, and personal artwork such as animals, nature or custom drawings.
- Advantages: a unique look, and theft deterrence, since hand-painted designs make a stolen car hard to sell.
- Drawback: high cost, and repairs and repainting after an accident can be expensive.
The price depends on the area to be painted, the size and complexity of the design, the number of colours and the cost of paints and varnishes.
