The equipment A/C workshops need for accurate diagnosis: the MS111 for belt-driven compressors and the MS112 for electric and hybrid vehicle compressors.
The A/C system is among the most complex in a vehicle, and diagnosis based on visual checks and minimal equipment is a leading cause of customer complaints. MSG Equipment advises workshops to equip themselves ahead of the summer rush.
The compressor is the most stressed component. For belt-driven compressors the MS111:
- Tests all compressor types at 12 and 24 V
- Checks the solenoid clutch and control valve with or without the compressor
- Supports post-repair running-in, pre-sale checks and printed test reports
For inverter-equipped compressors in electric and hybrid vehicles, the MS112 tests the electrical and hydraulic sections at 100–400 V and evaluates performance. The article also stresses flushing the lines when a compressor running without proper lubrication has shed metal particles into the system.
