Winter tyres, the right oil, lock and seal care, a battery check and body protection get a car ready for winter; full diagnostics belong in a workshop.
A few basic steps before the cold season improve safety and comfort.
- Tyres: switch to winter tyres when average temperatures fall below 7 °C and have pressure and alignment checked.
- Oil: choose a low-viscosity or multigrade oil suited to the climate and the manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Locks and seals: lubricate hinges and locks and treat door seals with silicone.
- Battery: clean the terminals, check the charge and replace the battery if needed.
- Body: finish paint and body repairs in dry weather and fit mud flaps and liners.
Rather than relying on a visual check, the safest option is full diagnostics at a workshop equipped with dedicated test benches.
