Computer diagnostics – fault codes, live sensor data, calibration and software updates – is now essential for workshops; MSG offers tools such as the LOKI scanner.
Computer diagnostics has moved fault finding from a mechanic’s intuition to a process built on software and hardware. Technicians can read and interpret ECU fault codes and monitor live sensor data to catch intermittent problems that never set a code. As cars become more computerized, calibration, adaptation and software updates are increasingly in demand.
Diagnostic data alone does not always reveal the root cause, so qualified technicians still need to interpret it and run additional tests.
MSG Equipment offers several products for this work. The LOKI scanner, for example, lets independent workshops read faults, run module self-tests, view live CAN data, calibrate systems and edit configuration parameters across the Tesla model range.
