Electric power steering (EPS) makes driving easier, especially at low speed and when manoeuvring, and a fault in it is a serious safety risk. MSG Equipment stresses that with proper diagnosis most EPS units can be reliably repaired.
The job has four stages: finding the cause, replacing faulty parts or fixing software errors, post-repair testing and adapting the unit to the vehicle. For the most accurate result the unit should be tested disconnected from the car.
The MS561 PRO tester checks more than 4,000 EPS/EPAS units controlled via CAN, CAN-FD, FlexRay or PWM signals, and also performs calibration after sensors are replaced. The process ends with a wheel alignment.
