Proper fitting, balancing and alignment, monthly pressure checks, correct storage, run-in driving and rotation help winter tyres last longer.
Poor roads, ice and de-icing chemicals wear winter tyres quickly, but proper care can extend their life.
- Have tyres fitted by a workshop using the right lubricant, and keep up with balancing and alignment.
- Check pressure monthly; over-inflation wears the centre and under-inflation the shoulders.
- Off-season, clean, dry and label the tyres and store them in a dry, ventilated room.
- Drive the first 100–200 km gently on new tyres, and about 500 km on studded ones.
- Rotate front and rear tyres at regular intervals for even wear.
