Winter preparation is more than a tyre change. Antifreeze washer fluid, winter wipers, clear headlights and lock care belong on the list too.
Getting a car ready for winter does not end with fitting winter tyres. MSG Equipment’s blog lists the details that often catch drivers off guard.
- Washer fluid: switch from water to non-freezing fluid once the average daily temperature drops to around +5 °C.
- Wipers: road chemicals leave streaks, so fit new, ideally winter-type or frameless, wipers.
- Headlights: in winter they must light the road; cloudy lenses can be polished to restore clarity.
- Locks: central locking and door mechanisms should be prepared against freezing.
