Choosing and replacing washer fluid and antifreeze before winter, and avoiding the costly damage that freezing can cause.
With winter arriving, a car’s technical fluids need to be replaced with freeze-resistant versions. MSG Equipment warns that neglecting this can lead to expensive repairs.
- Washer fluid: frozen water can damage the pump, hoses and nozzles. Choose a certified product and run the new fluid through the whole system so no water remains.
- Coolant: frozen water in the radiator can damage the engine block. Antifreeze should resist boiling and foaming and transfer heat well; concentrates are diluted with distilled water.
- Fill carefully and open the heater circuit to avoid air locks.
