MSG Equipment outlined the shared features of its MS005 and MS008 starter and alternator test benches:
- Automatic chain and belt tensioning to save time,
- A built-in alternator and regulator database with connection diagrams,
- Oscillograms that reveal even minor faults, plus special cables for correct connection,
- A touch screen and free software updates.
The differences were also noted: the MS005 applies loads up to 300A and can test vacuum pumps mounted on alternators, while the MS008 applies up to 150A and can additionally test voltage regulators separately. Both are aimed at specialists rebuilding units for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles.
