MSG Equipment announced an MS005 update adding diagnostics for CAN-controlled 48V belt starter-generators and new automatic test modes.
Efforts to improve engine efficiency and cut emissions are making vehicle units more complex. In response, MSG Equipment updated its MS005 starter and alternator test bench with new functions:
- Diagnostics of CAN-controlled 48V belt starter-generators in both alternator and starter modes, with the option to connect a diagnostic scanner,
- An automatic starter test mode with report generation,
- “Quick” and “Advanced” automatic alternator tests, the latter producing a current-speed characteristic,
- A customisable auto-test algorithm and report layout.
The new software installs automatically once the bench is connected to the internet. The 48V function is available on benches built after September 2023, while others can be upgraded with the KIT005-48V kit.
