MSG Equipment’s MS021 tester checks alternator diode bridges quickly and accurately using a 0.9A current limit and 30V.
A high AC ripple component during alternator testing points to a fault in the diode bridge or stator windings. Conventional multimeter checks use very low current and only reveal obvious shorts or open circuits, and avalanche diodes cannot be fully assessed this way.
MSG Equipment’s MS021 diode bridge tester checks diodes with a 0.9A current limit and 30V, with no need to reverse polarity. It can detect:
- Diode breakdown and poor contact with the busbars,
- Diode type (standard or avalanche) and the avalanche diode’s reverse breakdown voltage,
- Degradation shown by an increased forward voltage drop.
This makes it possible to select a matching replacement diode and carry out a quality repair.
