MSG Equipment described its MS112 bench, which tests 140–400V electric AC compressors of hybrids and EVs together with their inverters.
In electric vehicles, the AC system maintains not only cabin comfort but also the optimum temperature of the traction battery, making its regular maintenance more critical than in combustion cars. These compressors are driven by electric motors powered at 140–400V, so they require specialised equipment.
MSG Equipment’s MS112 bench can test modern electric compressors, including those with integrated inverters. The procedure works as follows:
- The compressor model is selected from the database, and the bench lists the required cables and fittings,
- The compressor is secured and connected to high/low pressure hoses and high-voltage and data cables,
- The test runs automatically, checking the electrical system first and then performance, using inert nitrogen as the working medium.
If a fault occurs, the screen shows why the test was stopped.
