MS800 Now Tests Lithium-Ion EV Batteries

Following a software update from MSG Equipment, the MS800 battery tester can now check lithium-ion cells as well as Ni-MH modules.

The high-voltage battery is now the heart of an electric vehicle. Modern lithium-ion packs last long thanks to charge controllers, thermal management and reserve capacity, but cells in older or budget models without thermal management can degrade faster.

When capacity drops, testing modules and assessing whether they can be restored can be far cheaper than buying a new battery. Following a software update from MSG Equipment, the MS800 can now test lithium-ion cells in addition to Ni-MH modules:

  • Testing of up to 36 cells at once with temperature monitoring,
  • Selection of used cells with similar capacity,
  • Precise balancing of cells to a set voltage,
  • Keeping stored cells in working condition.
