Diesel engines play a crucial role in commercial transport thanks to their efficiency, and diesel particulate filters (DPFs) were a major step in reducing their emissions. MSG Equipment notes, however, that filters clog with soot and ash over time and need regular cleaning.
Chemical cleaning, the most common method, requires treatment of the used solution at extra cost; in practice it is often discharged into sewers untreated. Since current wastewater technologies cannot remove highly soluble detergents, chemicals can reach water bodies and soil and harm the ecosystem.
The MS900 stand instead uses a combined hydro-pneumatic method: the filter is washed with a stream of warm water that periodically changes direction, with compressed air injected at intervals – cleaning without creating chemical waste.
