In EVs and hybrids the AC circuit manages battery temperature. MSG Equipment introduces the MS112 test bench for electric compressors.
The high-voltage battery is the most critical part of an electric or hybrid car and must stay within a set temperature range. MSG Equipment notes that above +40°C its service life shortens and below -10°C capacity drops.
Manufacturers therefore build a thermal loop with a water-glycol coolant into the battery. A heater warms it in cold weather, while in heat the air conditioning system, via a dedicated circuit, removes excess heat. In an EV, the AC is as important as engine cooling in a petrol car.
For servicing these systems the company recommends the MS112 test bench, which checks the electrical part and output of electric AC compressors with built-in inverters running on 140–400 V DC.
